Cable group chooses former FCC Commissioner Powell

With outgoing CEO McSlarrow named to head Comcast Washington office, NCTA voices need for new public policy leader Powell Michael Powell, former FCC Commissioner from 2001 to 2005, will be the new president and CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association effective April 25, the group announced March 15. Powell will replace outgoing CEO Kyle McSlarrow, who is slated to join Comcast Corporation in April as the president of Comcast/NBC Universal, Washington.
